Oakley is a rescue who was nearly starved to death. His current owner adopted him through Whispering Hearts Rescue. “I got him about a year and a half after he was rescued. He is about 8 years and his feet went really bad about three years ago when it was a horribly wet summer. Literally were falling apart despite all my efforts. He has now had shoes on for a year and a half and although there is improvement, I just don’t see how they will ever be completely better. ” – Heather (Oakley’s person)
We met Oakley in December 2019 when his trainer recommended us to his owner. We found him to have extremely flared walls, very thin soles, low, under-run heels, wall cracks and seedy toe. We removed his RF shoe (he had already removed LF shoe himself) and gave him a set-up trim. He was fit into Cavallo Hoof Boots and Easycare Soft Green Pads. We opened up the wall cracks and Artimud was applied regularly by his caring owner.
Oakley wore his boots during the winter when the ground was frozen but has been able to go barefoot now that the ground is soft. He gets ridden on a regular basis.
